John A. Svoboda, Senior Managing Director, jas@svoco.com
John Svoboda is co-founder of Svoboda Capital Partners. Prior to founding SC, John was employed in the Corporate Finance Department of William Blair & Company LLC (1983-1997), where he managed Business Development and became a Partner in 1988.
John serves on the board of several private companies including the Glover Park Group, Cape Electrical Supply, World Data Corporation, GPA Holdings, and PNA Holdings. He serves as a trustee of the University of Chicago Medical Center, the Otho S. A. Sprague Memorial Institute, the Marwen Foundation, and as a life trustee of the Francis W. Parker School. He also serves on the Advisory Council of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, and serves on the Steering Committee for the Stanford Campaign. John has also served on several alumni and fundraising committees for both Williams College and the Stanford Business School, as well as capital campaigns for the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.
John graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1979 and received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1983. |

Alex R. Miller,

Alex Miller joined Svoboda Capital Partners in May 2000 and has been a managing director since 2005. Together with John Svoboda, Alex is responsible for investment origination, evaluation, closing and portfolio management. In 2003, he led SCP’s expansion into the consumer sector.
Alex was employed by the Boston Consulting Group (“BCG”) in Chicago and Zurich, Switzerland from 1997 to 2000. At BCG, he led and contributed to project teams focused on developing and implementing growth and profit improvement strategies for consumer packaged goods, beverage and financial services companies. Alex was employed by Arthur Andersen L.P. in the Transaction Advisory Group from 1992 to 1995.
Alex serves on the board of several private companies including Optronics, Border Construction Specialties and Superior Mailing Services. He serves as the President of the Board of the Lookingglass Theatre Company, and as a director of the Midwest Business Brokers and Intermediaries association and the Illinois Venture Capital Association, and served as Past President of the Board of the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago.
Alex holds a BA degree in Medieval History and a BBA degree in Accounting, both with high honors, from the University of Notre Dame in 1992, and an MBA, with honors, from Harvard Business School in 1997. |

Andrew B. Albert, Managing Director & Operating Partner, aalbert@svoco.com
Andrew Albert joined SC as a Managing Director and Operating Partner in February 2007 after serving on SC’s Advisory Board since 1998. As Operating Partner, Andy works with SC’s underperforming companies as well as focusing on operational improvements and supply chain efficiencies throughout SC’s portfolios. Andy also serves as a Director and advisor both internally at SC and in various portfolio companies. In addition, Andy serves as Chairman of the Board of PartsNow, and serves as a Director of Border Construction Specialties as well as Superior Mailing Services, Forsythe Technologies and Transco, Inc.
Andy was formerly CEO of Nashua Corporation, a $300 million publically traded NASDAQ company that coats and prints paper for a wide variety of business applications. He joined Nashua in April 2000 and became its Chairman/CEO in December 2000. Andy stepped down as CEO in May 2006 and remains Chairman of Nashua’s Board of Directors.
Prior to April 2000, Andy spent twenty-four years at Rittenhouse, LLC as Chairman/CEO from 1983 to 2000. During his tenure at Rittenhouse, sales grew from $6 million to $150 million. Rittenhouse was sold to Nashua in April 2000. Andy spent seven years as a commercial banker (1979 to 1976) at Irving Trust Company in New York and American National Bank and Trust Co. of Chicago.
Andy graduated from Washington University with a BA in 1967, and received his MBA from University of Wisconsin in 1969. |
